What’s our Mobile Marketing strategy? This is the question that many top retailers and brand owners are beginning to ask themselves as consumers become more connected. The mobile channel can be a very powerful way to reach consumers with relevant information at the right time and the right place. There are many potential strategies for marketing to consumers – but how does one make it effective? The following are some key considerations and guidelines that will assist you in formulating your strategy:

  1. Always provide the consumer with the ability to control the flow of messages – whether this be an ‘opt out’ feature, or an online / offline indicator – respecting the consumer will pay off.
  2. Create a dialogue with the consumer – find a way to capture information about what products or services are of interest to the consumer right now, tomorrow, and down the road so that you can continue to engage them. Most importantly, provide a means for consumers to initiate the dialogue.
  3. Create a social network – find a way to allow consumers to interact with each other and share information and notify each other about products, services, or sales and special promotions. This will also allow you to learn more about what is attracting or detracting consumers.
  4. Reward the consumer – find a way to reward those that are most engaged and most receptive to your marketing messages, whether it be through exclusive offers or special incentives.
