Venture Firm Buys and Sells Mobile Payments Firm To Roamware Inc

Shackleton Ventures sells mobile payments firm, Macalla, to Roamware Inc. Shackleton bought the business less than a year ago.

Shackleton Ventures Wednesday said it has sold Macalla, a mobile payments software business, to Roamware Inc. within a year of buying the company from 3i Group PLC (III.LN).

Financial details of the transaction weren't disclosed.

Shackleton is a secondary market specialist and buys whole portfolios of assets or individual companies from venture capital investors wanting to sell. One of the advantages of buying in the secondary market is that the investor gets a more mature company which it can sell on fairly swiftly, maximizing returns.
